Sinn Féin Policy on the EconomyA new social and economic order in Ireland will cherish all our people equally and prize equality and social justice. The last ten years have been a time of unprecedented economic growth. There is greater prosperity in Ireland and more peole are working, but successive governments have failed to use economic growth to create equality. Sinn Féin seeks to build an all-Ireland economy where everyone can have a dignified, productive and well paid job and all can have a fair income and better quality of life. We want to see the transformation of the war economy in the north of Ireland into a productive peacetime economy and the elimination of the economic distortions created by partition and peripheralism. We want to redistribute resources is a positive way, to invest in those parts of society suffering economic marginalisation and social exclusion, to redress inequality. We want to invest in social provision such as health, education, pensions and child welfare. We want to invest in economic development and facilitate business to grow sustainably. We want to build infrastructure that benefits all and is grounded in the guarantee of universal provision and access. |
